20 days later ...

OK, Brian, this one's for you. ;-)

Brian was kind enough to send me a comment on my last blog to say that I needed to update since it has been almost 20 days since I last posted.

I have been busy with the dissertation. Spending hours in the library, often from 9am-8pm working on the essays & reading. My brain feels like it is about to explode with all the info! I need to write one more essay before July 3 because I have to email it to my professor that day! It's on "Otherness" (i.e. race & homosexuality) in Wilkie Collins.

I did get my results for this past year yesterday. I passed Part One with distinction, which means my average is a 70 or higher. I was quite excited!

Mom came in yesterday. I got up at 5am & took a 5.5 hour bus ride to pick her up in London. Then got BACK on the bus for another 5.5 hour bus ride back to Swansea. I think we got in about 5pm, caught the bus to the Student Village, & then back in town to stop by Zoe's house (I had stayed at her house the night before since she lives in town & had left some things) & then headed to the grocery. Finally saw Freddy & his friend Johannes. Johannes drove up from Germany on Sunday. They're piling all of Freddy's stuff (& my duffle bag) in the car & driving back to Germany on Friday.

Sunday night I went out with the work group. Was certainly an interesting evening. I think I got home about 3am that night. Luckily one of the guys gave me a ride home so I wouldn't have to pay for a taxi.

My last night at the hotel is Friday (woohoo)! I'm very excited about it. I worked Tuesday night. It was SO slow that one of the chefs made me dinner!

Mom & I leave for Scotland Saturday at 3am. We have to catch a bus to Bristol & then fly out of Bristol to Edinburgh where we pick up the car. We're staying at Barony Castle, which is owned by the hotel company I work for, so I get staff rate. We'll get back from Scotland on Tuesday & then catch a train to London on Friday. The Tour de France begins Saturday. I'm working Sunday in the Westminster area, so if you watch the Tour, you may see me!

I fly home on the 12th. I'm hoping it will be nice & warm on the 10th or 11th so I can go to the beach!!! I still haven't made it there yet. All this rain ...

Nothing else exciting has happened. Went sopping today. Bought a dress & shoes & another duffle (rolling one) to carry stuff home.

I'll try to post after we get back from Scotland. Then I'll at least have some photos to post as well. I'm anxious to get home (& to work on the sports program for OCHS).

For those of you reading this in the Lexington area, I'm having a "Stay Awake" get-together at McCarthy's on July 12th after I fly in. I think we're meeting around 9pm. I created an event on Facebook, but I wasn't sure who all was actually around. So if you are, feel free to come by. We'll be there 'til 11pm (or at least that's my goal).

Sadly, I won't be able to make the "Stay Awake" party, but I'll be sure to think about you on the 12th.

On my way to bed.

I'm glad you decided to update. We need to get together in the all-too-brief time that you're going to be back on this side of the pond. Maybe we can arrange to meet in Nashville, or Oak Ridge, Tennessee sometime.

Miss ya! bb
