It's Party Time!

I am finished! Absolutely, positively finished! WITH MY DISSERTATION! Now, hopefully next July I will graduate from Swanea with my MA! Keep your fingers crossed!

The past month has, in a sense, been hell & of course I have brought it upon myself. From April to July, I worked on my dissertation. Once I returned to the US, I took a month off from it basically because I didn't feel like working on it. Then I moved to Germany. And time starts flying by. I'm busy on the weekends because I'm doing things with the girls or traveling & all of a sudden it's close to the end of September & I still do not have a completed 3rd chapter, an introduction, or a conclusion.

So I put my nose to the grind stone, as the saying goes, & worked. I would get up at 630, get the girls off to school by 705 & start working on my paper by 8am. I'd break at noon for lunch & then start back as soon as Larissa was working on her homework. Again I'd stop at 6pm for dinner & the back to work until 10 or 11 or 12 or 1 ... depending on the day. Yesterday, I finally saw my labours come to an end as I emailed my completed dissertation (including 3rd chapter, intro, & conclusion) to a friend of mine in Wales who was going to have it printed, bound, & turned in before Monday (the final deadline).

To say I am relieved would be the biggest understatement of the year. I am thrilled that it is finished. But now I don't know what to do with myself!

Today, I cleaned. I could tell I had been stressed out because I wanted to clean & cook. So I vacuumed & mopped, made a pot of turkey noodle soup (we didn't have chicken), & then sat down & finally watched some tv. After all, I do have 16 DVDs that dad has sent me of various tv shows he is taping for me & I have yet to watch a single one! Oh well ... I can get caught up now!

And yesterday was absolutely amazing. Tonya, the riding instructor, is on holiday until next Monday, so we haven't been going to lessons. Because this week was forecasted to be gorgeous, I asked Dagmar if she & I could take the horses trail riding yesterday since the girls had already made plans to play with friends. We invited Andreas, who also rides at the same time as we do with Tonya. So she brought Godfried, Dagmar rode Tarabas, & I rode Holly. It was awesome. We cut though the fields, rode along the canal (where the weeds were up over my boots because I was on the pony), rode past the windmills, & had 3 breaktaking gallops. Ah, it was just fabulous! I hope we can do it again. Holly & I both worked up a sweat - me from holding her back & she from running so hard. Man can that little pony move!

But it's finished. An end of an era has also come. I guess I'm no longer a student ... after almost 20 years of being in school, I really don't know what to do with myself. Oh well ... I technically have until next July to figure that out because then it'll be official, diploma & all. :-D
